Excerpt – Reigning Her In by Dani Wyatt

cover-relexcerpt
I’m supposed to be here to help her, but I can’t help what happens next.  She squeezed my fingers. A gentle tug was all it took.

My mouth nearly crushes hers as I take our first kiss.

Her lips taste innocent as they open, my tongue lighting up with the first flavor of her.  Something rumbles out of me like a pained groan, because it hurts.  This kind of intensity hurts in a spectacular way.

Her tongue answers me with its movement, her own sweet, tiny sounds that make my dick shatter the ceiling of the space available in my pants.  He’s curling in half as he grows, and I hope she doesn’t notice.

If I had my way, I’d hear that tiny moan every second of every day for the rest of my life.  It’s more than beautiful; it calls to me.

It’s lips and soft moans and the soft click of teeth meeting teeth before I break away, my hand grasping possessively around the side of her face.  My thumb rasping back and forth in an attempt to feel as much of her soft skin as it can.  My fingertips digging harder than they should into the back of her neck, bringing my forehead to rest on hers.

“I’m sorry.”  My face is flushed, I’m shaking.  “I shouldn’t have done that.”

My head is throbbing, along with my balls.  They are tight against my body and something inside me is born.  Something that wants her in a way that frightens me.  An obsession explodes and I’m not sure I can tame it enough to keep from hurting her.  I want my cum dripping from her; I want to feel her flesh to flesh from the inside.  I need her vulnerable, available, spread for me to enjoy and make filthy with me.  Never before has a woman ignited this kind of lust, these kinds of thoughts, and frankly I’m scared shitless.

“I’m not sorry,” she murmurs as I desperately try to regain control of the animal she’s created in me.

The air in the room seems to disappear.  My lungs ache but inside my head, I think, who needs oxygen?  I have only one need and she is the only way to satiate that need.

The idea that this innocent beauty and I are sharing similar thoughts is enough to make me nearly cum in my pants.  Drops of liquid are already soaking through the fabric below my waist, and I think I would need another ten layers to hide her effect on me.

The sight of her cheeks rising pink, the way her nipples greet my gaze from under the faded hospital gown, make me want to tear the offending fabric into shreds and have her never be clothed around me again.  Who is this dominant beast?  I’m the ever reserved, commanding, cool leader.  Always in control.

Not now.  If I had my way, I’d slam the furniture against the door of this room and take her right here.  A single word thrums in my head.  It won’t stop as much as I try to push it away.

Mine.  Mine.  Mine.

I fight the urge to crawl on top of her and make her filthy in ways I never imagined before her. But with the taste of her lips, thoughts of my cum inside her are fighting with the civilized parts of me to maintain some control.

I imagine slicing my tongue between her dripping cunt lips for the first time.  It’s one of many things I’ve never done before.  My words growling into her body, saying every filthy word I can think of as I breathe her in and swallow her flavor.

I imagine the subtle differences in the texture of her skin on my tongue, the ripples and folds, the hard nub where I want to draw her between my lips and consume the very essence of her.  I want to make love to her with my mouth for hours.

Sidetracked (Mindf*ck Series Book 2) by S.T.Abby

The second book in the Mindf*ck Series starts where the last one left off and is just as action packed and fantastic as the first.

Lana and Logan can’t give each other up, their passion is becoming all consuming. Lana knows she’s playing with fire, she has a secret murder room in her house and an FBI profiler in her bed. She’s spending her days walking on eggshells, but determined to finish her list, especially after she crosses a young girl who reminds her of her younger self. She promises to make all the monsters pay and we learn more about Lana’s past.

Logan’s job puts Lana in danger and he’s going crazy trying to protect her, not realising that he’s driving her away and making it harder for her to murder the men on her kill list. We learn more about Logan’s team, his female relationships and the toll this takes on their relationship. We also get a little more from Jake, Lana’s accomplice in this book which I loved because he’s one of my favourite characters.

I can’t really say much in regards to the story-line because there are so many twists and turns, you’ll want to discover for yourself. But trust me – it’s a great read you won’t want to put down!

I wish I could say our meeting was happenstance.

I wish I could say we took one look and we just knew.

I wish I could say falling for him was the best thing that ever happened to me.

But none of that would be true.

Rhett Carson was as cold as the ice on which he skated. He was as calloused as the hands that shot the goals that won world titles. He was also damaged. And broken. And he didn’t know it, but I knew all about him.

I knew why he was so bitter and angry.

I knew why he was so coldhearted.

But I didn’t know why I allowed myself fall in love with him, and I didn’t know why I couldn’t stop…even when he told me to.

And that’s when everything changed.

Swing – Adriana Locke

“You want romance? I’ll romance the shit out of you.”

Oh Lincoln, I have been looking forward to meeting you! And you did not disappoint. Are all baseball players like this? If so, I obviously need to move to America.

By now you know Adriana Locke is a favourite with Page One Books and if you follow my reviews, she is personally one of my top Romance authors so I may be a little biased. Actually no, Locke is just awesome! Her writing is solid, her characters are well formed and her storylines are always satisfying. An easy recommend. I may have been late to the game with her books, but I am now a firm fixture in the fandom, especially the Landry Family!

Although if I have to be honest, I did enjoy Barrett’s story that little bit more. Sorry Lincoln! You are still my favourite Landry brother, but Sway drew me in from the get go. I just wanted something more from Swing that I wasn’t quite getting. I’m not sure what, but there was definitely something missing and it kills me to say it.

Swing is still a must read though!

I received a copy of this book from Give Me Books Promotions in exchange for an honest review during a release blitz. This in no way affected my opinion of the books, or the content of my review.

Release Blitz: Swing – Adriana Locke

Blurb

Screw him and his perfect stats.

Sinful smirk.

Delicious body.

Lincoln Landry probably even has game-winning stamina.

I’d like to screw her and her perfect ass.

Dangerous curves.

Sweet smile.

Danielle Ashley probably even has a game-changing personality.

There’s no denying the chemistry between them. It’s so fiery, it’s undeniable. They partake in it. Enjoy it.

They really enjoy it.

Attraction is not a problem. Nor is their banter, relationship status, or habits. That’s all fine. Perfect, actually.

The problem is as tangled up as their sheets.

Excerpt

The bell chimes as the front door closes behind me. I’m to my car in record speed. I need space. I need air. I need to think. When my phone buzzes right before I pull out of the parking lot, I know it’s Pepper and she’s not going to quit until I give her something to occupy her mind.

“Fine!” I nearly shout into the phone. “His cock is about ten inches, if I’m guessing, and he fucked me in about every position I could explain. My favorite, though, was the corkscrew. Not sure what that is? Google it.”

My finger goes to swipe off the call when I see the name on the screen and drop the phone. “Shit!” I cry, digging through the items on my passenger’s side floorboard until I find the glowing device.

My heart is pounding as I try to decide whether to end the call or talk to Lincoln. Mortified, I bring it to my ear and squeeze my eyes shut. He’s silent.

Maybe he didn’t hear. Please, God, don’t let him have heard that.

“Hello?” I eke out.

“I’d say ten inches is fair and I’ve made a note about the corkscrew. Glad I called,” he chuckles.

Punk 57 by Penelope Douglas

Let’s just start with this: I LOVE Penelope Douglas. She is the goddess of all things dark, twisted, angsty and sexy as hell. So of course I was going to love Punk 57, because it was all of those things and more.

Mischa and Ryen are pen pals, they have been since they were children. They confided in each other, helped and inspired each other and they loved each other in a way no one else could. But they agreed never to meet, fearing that it would ruin everything.

Mischa is at a party where his band is hosting when he hears her name, and everything changes. Ryen isn’t what she claimed to be, instead of the geeky outcast he’s expecting he finds her to be, but a beautiful, cold Queen B and then tragedy strikes.

He stops writing, she doesn’t.

Ryen can’t understand what’s happened to Mischa, why he doesn’t write anymore. She showed him parts of herself that she’s never shared with anyone and now without that outlet, her bitterness grows everyday. She knows everyone and everything around her is a facade, but she’s trying to convince herself she’s happy.

When the dark and angsty Masen shows up at her school she’s drawn to him, but he shoots her down, embarrassing her. He treats her with distaste that suddenly has her questioning herself and her status as Queen B.  Masen is cruel at times, deliberately baiting and humiliating her, revealing the words written deep on her soul. As this battle of wills heats up, becoming steamier and sexier as the book goes on, Ryen realises that the perfect life isn’t everything. Their chemistry is amazing, like burn your eyeballs out amazing but what happens when she discovers who Masen really is and the reason that Mischa stopped writing?

Read it. READ IT NOW!

A Lone Planet. One Complex.

Unlimited Chaos.

Catch a siren. Stop the storm. Whatever the cost.

Allie, sick of war and grief, signed up as a lowly maintenance worker for the Complex in the hope of securing a lasting peace between the Metas and Humans. However, the girl has her own secrets, not least of which is her assignment from the Lorn government to monitor the Complex for signs of a suspected saboteur.

Galen, the only survivor of the Poseidon shipwreck, didn’t join the Complex for peace. He wants vengeance on the siren Halcyon, the mysterious Mer whose terrorist tactics single-handedly killed more humans than any other Meta. His sources say that Halcyon is on Lorn, and he’ll happily kill every Mer in the Complex until his parents’ murderer is dead.

Can they catch the terrorist before the Complex is destroyed?

The Complex Book Series:

A Lone Planet. One Complex.

Unlimited Chaos.

After a brutal war between Humans and Metas an uneasy truce is declared in the Seldova solar system. At the conclusion of the treaty signing, the Complex is created on the lone planet, Lorn. The Complex is a blended community of Humans and Metas, all sent to test the waters of a more peaceful existence between the two races. Living under a domed community can only mean one thing for the Humans and Metas. Chaos.

A taste of what’s in store:

Galen unclenched his fists and stepped out of the cab. It zoomed away, leaving him alone in the corridor outside his door. Outside what would be home for the next two years.

Galen took a deep breath, palmed open the door, and stepped inside.

Only to discover the apartment was already occupied.

“…I repeat, restrict temperatures within all living spaces to a lower limit of two…no, make it five degrees above the freezing point of water. Anyone who wants lower temperatures than that will have to apply to Maintenance and only if appropriate insulation is fitted to all the apartment’s pipework will it be allowed,” the woman said. A floor-cleaning robot hummed around her feet, siphoning water off the floor.

An electronic voice protested, “You do not have authorisation to impose controls on all living spaces, or this one. Resident number – “

“Space that!” the woman snapped. “My authorisation is ALI-407102 Maintenance override. Stick that up your circuits and do as you’re told.”

Galen liked her already.

“Processing,” the recorded voice replied. “Authorisation confirmed. Any further orders?”

“Give me a damage report. How many apartments are affected by the burst pipes?”

A pause, then the electronic voice said, “Just those on this side of the inner ring of this level. No other apartments had sub-zero temperatures for an extended period.”

The woman sighed, her shoulders relaxing along with her voice. “Good. I want temperatures matched to those in 407 until the ice has melted in all affected apartments, and I want floor cleaning robots activated in all of them. Get me every Maintenance worker we have in the Complex, and a load of replacement pipes. This is urgent.”

“Implementing orders now,” the voice said.

As if on command, Galen’s communications device sounded an alert.

The woman whirled around, so her surprised eyes met his. She wasn’t more than a girl, really, despite her authoritative orders to the building management AI. Yet her dark eyes seemed to x-ray his soul, if he believed in such a thing.

Galen tried to shake off the effect of her hypnotic stare. Did that make her a Meta like the Intra at the entrance? “How many apartments have burst pipes?”

Her eyes widened for a moment. “Enough to keep me busy all day. Some idiot set these rooms to temperatures below freezing, without realising that some other idiot had forgotten to insulate the water pipes against freezing. Probably someone who’d never seen snow before, or what ice can do to pipes. My money’s on a stupid ship-born Meta.” Her brows drew so low they nearly met over the bridge of her nose.

Hating Metas made her Human, then. Just a really pretty one. Galen blew out a breath he hadn’t known he was holding. Human and his type and here. Whoever she was, he wanted her.

“Aren’t we supposed to be trying to get along?” Galen said. “You know, us and the Metas, now the war’s over?”

The girl snorted. “Oh, sure. The war’s over and we live under a peace treaty, so we’re not supposed to kill each other, but there was nothing in the treaty about banning stupidity. So I guess we’ll just have to live with that.”

Galen laughed. She wasn’t stupid, that was for sure. “I’m Galen,” he said, extending a hand in greeting. “I’m supposed to be the environmental engineer responsible for the Complex, and while I don’t think I’ve officially started work yet, I think your AI just conscripted me.” He pointed at his right hand, which hid the chip implant that held his communication device. “I’ve changed a few pipes in my time. I did my apprenticeship on shipboard environmental systems. Nothing as state of the art as this place. Our ship was falling apart, cobbled together from spare parts and scrap metal in the first place. You’d replace one thing, only to find something else had fallen off while you were working. I can handle pipe replacements.”

Her cool fingers meshed with his as she shook his hand. Her eyes lit up. “So you’re the genius engineer Lennox told me about. I thought you’d be older.” Her mischievous grin did things to Galen’s insides.

“I’m twenty-four, and I’ve been working as an engineer for a decade. Plenty old enough to know what I’m doing,” Galen snapped to hide the tumult inside. She couldn’t be any older than he was. In fact, she looked younger. And she was a Maintenance worker, which made her his subordinate. “How many apartments need replacement pipes?” he repeated.

The girl lifted her eyes to the ceiling. “Answer him.”

“Fifty-two, not including the two already repaired,” the electronic voice said.

“Twenty-six each, then,” the girl said. She flashed another impish grin. “How fast can you fix pipes, genius? Want to wager something on it? Loser has to make the winner dinner.”

How had she known he’d wanted to ask her to dinner? Galen shook his head. She hadn’t. “You’re on. One condition, though.”

She raised her eyebrows, waving for him to continue.

“Tell me your name.”

She let out a peal of laughter. “Sure thing, Galen. I’m Allie, and it’s good to have you on board. Genius or not, anyone who can fix pipes is a good man in my book.” Allie winked. “I’ll go left, and you go right. I already fixed the pipes in your next door neighbours’ place. A wolverine shifter family. Good thing the ventilation’s still working well.”

Galen watched her head down the corridor, unable to take his eyes off her.

Allie glanced over her shoulder. “Staring at my arse won’t win you your wager, genius. Nor will it get you any closer to getting your hands on it.”

Feeling his face grow hot, Galen turned away, but not before he heard her laughter ring out down the corridor. He had to win this wager, he swore. His reputation depended on it.

And maybe more besides, he thought, envisioning what she looked like without her standard-issue coverall. One day he wanted to find out how well fantasy matched the reality.

The Risk (Mindf*ck Series #1) by ST.Abby

This is another one of those ridiculously quick reads that I demolished in an hour on my break in work. I seriously loved this book. It was fast paced, graphic, dark and bloody. It was sexy, titillating, a great read and I’d highly recommend it.

Lana is a killer, numbed to what she does because she’s working down a very long list of people who have wronged her. They took their pound of flesh from her a very long time ago, when she was a different person and now she wants her revenge. She’s trained a long time for this, worked hard for it and nothing is going to stand in her way…that is until she meets Logan Bennett. Logan is her happiness after the crap card life dealt her. But there are so many threads holding her fake life together and the deeper she gets with Logan the more they threaten to unravel.

Logan is an FBI profiler who can’t get Lana out of his mind, he falls for her hard and fast. He’s trying to track down a gruesome, methodical sadist who’s murdering people who come from the same picturesque town. He has no idea that it’s Lana he’s tracking. Lana, the girl who has so many secrets, so many scars and in his eyes who is just too perfect for this horrible world.

But Lana isn’t the only criminal out there, and suddenly she’s in danger too.

There are lots of twists, turns and plenty of action to pull you in. You’ll be questioning your morals by the end of book one. You’ll be mind fu*d.
