In the end we are all pawns…
The world as we know it has been destroyed by an asteroid but one man develops a plan before impact saving the last remnants of human kind. However after impact, strange things begin to happen within the HOPE (Humanity’s One Plan for Escape) Habitat. Can the daughter of its creator figure out what’s going on before it’s too late?
I’m not usually a fan of Sci-Fi but I found that After Impact didn’t go too over the top with all the futuristic stuff that normally puts me off. It also had a pretty awesome plot that was so full of twists and turns it kept the pace fast, exciting and unpredictable. I really didn’t know whom to trust within the interesting world of the HOPE Habitat. However, I wasn’t too keen on the love triangle. I could see that the author was trying to inject some drama into Avalon and Ilium’s growing relationship; Kael’s interest was just a little underdeveloped. I needed more from his character in order to see him as a viable option.
Definite 3* that was almost 4 for getting me into a genre I tend to avoid but it didn’t quite get there for me. So if you’re looking for some YA to fill the Divergent void, a futuristic dystopian with a Sci-Fi edge, then check this out. A great debut novel!
Here’s to the sequel, please tell me it’s coming out soon?!
